Mould produces gasses called microbial volatile organic compounds (MVOC). Many of these gasses are odourless but some have a musty odour, the smell typically associated with mould. If you notice a musty odour in your home, you probably have mould growing there, even if you don’t see any mould. Typically, musty odours are found in basements, both unfinished and finished, thus leading to the need for basement mould removal.
