Baby, It’s Cold Outside!
February 2nd, 2018
Frigid temperatures have hit Ontario! We are Canadians who take polar plunges and wear sandals in the snow, while the rest of the world marvels at this oddity. It’s great to be Canadian. It’s great to enjoy the snow and endure the cold temperatures because it just makes us stronger. However, these cold temperatures can lead to some real problems in our home; anything from leaky and wet basements to wall cracks. Lake effects and snow belt areas can create some significant temperature changes that can cause pipes to leak or freeze and burst, or foundations to become susceptible to the harsh conditions.
Leaky basements can happen in places like Lake of Bays and to homes in the Georgian Bay area. Wall crack repairs in Wasaga Beach may be needed after or during this cold winter. And wet basements may become a problem in places like Kincardine, Georgina, Parry Sound, Scugog, and Penetanguishene.
All across Ontario, residents tend to hibernate during the exceptionally cold days and nights. It is important to seize the opportunity to check for wall cracks, leaky basements, and wet basements. Taking a quick 5 minutes to check things out in your basement can help you to catch problems early, before they worsen.
